Southern Sheeting continues to expand - reinforcing position as market leader

Southern Sheeting has increased its workforce by 20 per cent after hiring new team members to support the business’ growth and meet growing demand.

These include yard and warehouse operatives, a logistics planner, delivery drivers and sales advisors, who have joined the building materials supplier in East Grinstead, West Sussex.

The business has been supplying trade and domestic customers across the UK for more than 40 years, but it is rapidly expanding to cement its position as a market leader.

Tony Hobbs, Managing Director, Southern Sheeting, said: “These are exciting times for Southern Sheeting as we position the business as a leading force in the UK building materials market.

“Our new website with full ecommerce functionality will lead to a significant increase in sales. Boosting our warehouse and yard operatives will mean we are ready to meet this demand, while ensuring deliveries are turned around at high speed with the trademark excellent customer service that our clients have come to expect.”

Logistics planner Sarah London has joined from a national parcel delivery service where she was responsible for coordinating 30 drivers, delivering 2,500 parcels a day. She will organise Southern Sheeting’s deliveries for the nine-strong fleet and brings exceptional geographical knowledge and logistics skills to her new role.

Experienced HGV driver Rob Holland has been hired as a delivery driver, having previously worked for a removals business. John Ritchie has been moved from a temporary to a permanent contract as a delivery driver.

The sales team has also expanded with the arrival of sales advisors Alex Trill and James Lucas, who brings experience from a national tools and fixings distributor.

Toby Herbert, Jake Norman, Sam Clingo, Michael Wilson, David Weeding and Ellis Evento have joined as yard and warehouse operatives.

The team has also welcomed Rob Cooper to the IT department to support the business, as well as a Jo Morfield as ecommerce manager.

Tony added: “We’re so pleased to welcome our new recruits to our friendly and family-run business. Our logistics planner Sarah is such a cheerful and energetic person who will be able to deliver on our high customer service levels.

“Our new delivery drivers Rob and John also boast high standards of customer service and bags of enthusiasm, while our latest sales advisor James has a natural talent of quick thinking and conversational skills. Together with our fantastic new yard and warehouse operatives, this will help put our business in pole position for continued rapid expansion.”
