Southern Sheeting helps club celebrate 125 years of football history

East Grinstead-based Southern Sheeting, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of specialist building materials to trade and domestic customers, has renewed its sponsorship of Ardingly Football Club for the second year running.

The deal includes a £1,000 donation, which last year the club used to fund a defibrillator for their home pitch at Ardingly recreation ground, as well as putting it towards signing-on fees for new players.

This led to an influx of new talent joining and to the first team winning the Mid Sussex Junior Charity Cup in April 2022, beating Cuckfield Town 5-0 to secure the trophy!

This was the club’s first cup win since 2002, and first cup final since 2008, so it was a proud moment for everyone involved, including fans from Ardingly village.

As part of the sponsorship, Ardingly FC’s matchday shirts feature the Southern Sheeting logo.

Richard Watson, Ardingly Football Club chairman, said: “We are delighted that Southern Sheeting has renewed its sponsorship and we wear our matchday shirts with pride.

“We are entirely self-funded, so without the generous support of local businesses, it would be difficult for us to buy new equipment or undertake the necessary maintenance of our pitch.

“Winning our first cup in more than 20 years was a very special moment for us, one that Southern Sheeting directly helped bring about. So, we’d like to say a big thank you to managing director Tony Hobbs and his team.”

Ardingly FC, which competes in the Mid Sussex Football League, last year marked its 125th anniversary.

Tony Hobbs added: “We like to do everything we can to give back to good causes in our local area. Our sponsorship of the club is part of this programme, and we are very pleased to see it succeed. Both in terms of winning trophies and bringing the community together.”
