40+ Years Supporting Trade and Public Customers
Made-to-order roofing means the measurements have to be right before anything is manufactured. There's no swapping a sheet that came out 200mm short.
We check the details before an order goes in, deal directly with the manufacturer, and put you through to people who've specified this system on real buildings.
Family-run for over forty years, and the reason architects, builders and self-builders come back is that what arrives matches what was agreed.
Talk to Us Before You Specify
Every standing seam order is made to your lengths, so this starts with a conversation rather than a basket.
Send the roof dimensions, the pitch, whether it's roofing or cladding, and the finish you're after. We'll confirm what's achievable, sort a swatch sample, work out the flashing schedule and come back with a no-obligation quote.

Standing Seam Roofing FAQs
What makes standing seam different from other metal roofing?
The fixings are concealed. On a box profile or corrugated roof, you can see the screws in rows across the sheet. On standing seam, panels join at a raised vertical seam, and the fasteners sit hidden underneath it. That gives you the clean, uninterrupted face people associate with zinc roofs, and it removes the exposed fixing points where problems tend to start.
Do I need specialist installers?
Not with this system, and that's the main practical advantage. Traditional zinc standing seam requires trained specialists and mechanical seaming equipment. Comax Klik uses snap lock seams on factory-cut sheets, so a competent roofing team can install it without hiring specialist trades or specialist tools.
How low a pitch will it work at?
Down to 5° without a connection. If the roof length requires a joint, the minimum rises to 15°. Tell us the pitch and the rafter length, and we'll confirm whether you need a connection at all, since sheets run up to 8 metres.
Aluminium or steel, which should I go for?
Aluminium is exceptionally light at 2.5kg/m², which matters on lightweight structures or where you're re-roofing over an existing frame. Steel is the more economical option and performs well in most settings. Effective widths differ slightly, 455mm for aluminium against 475mm for steel, which affects sheet quantities. Tell us about the building, and we'll advise.
What warranty comes with it?
Up to 75 years, depending on the material and finish specified. That's at the top end of what's available in metal roofing. We'll confirm the exact warranty terms for your chosen specification when we quote.
Is it suitable for a building that needs a fire rating?
It's non-combustible with an A1 fire rating, which is the highest classification. If you're working to a specification that requires non-combustible materials, this qualifies. Send us the requirement, and we'll confirm it against the technical data.
Can I fit solar panels to it?
Yes, the system is solar panel compatible. Standing seam is actually one of the better roofs for solar, because mounting systems can clamp onto the seams without penetrating the sheet. That means no fixing holes through the weatherproof layer.
What lengths can I get?
Anywhere from 1050mm up to 8000mm, cut to length at the factory. On most domestic roofs that means a single sheet from ridge to eaves with no horizontal lap at all, which is both cleaner to look at and one less place for water to get in.
How long does delivery take?
Allow 5 to 6 weeks. Everything is made to order to your specific lengths, so there's no stock to pull off a shelf. Factor that into your programme, particularly if scaffolding is booked.
Can I see the colours before I order?
You can request a swatch sample, and we'd recommend it. Metal finishes look different in daylight against real materials than they do on a screen, and on a design-led project it's worth seeing the actual sample before committing to a made-to-order run.
Does it work for cladding as well as roofing?
Yes, the same system covers both. Plenty of projects use it on the roof and carry it down a vertical elevation for a continuous appearance, which is a common look on contemporary houses and commercial units.
What flashings will I need?
That depends on the roof, but typically ridge, verge, eaves and abutment details. Colour-matched flashings are available across the range so the finish ties in rather than clashing. The Comax Flashing List sets out what's available, and we'll put a schedule together for your specific roof.
Is it heavy enough to need structural work?
Rarely. Aluminium at 2.5kg/m² is very light indeed, considerably less than tiles or slate. That often makes standing seam viable on structures that couldn't take a heavier covering. If you're replacing an existing roof covering, it's worth checking with your structural engineer, but weight is usually an advantage here rather than a constraint.
Where do you deliver?
Nationwide across the UK mainland. Long sheets need decent access for unloading, so tell us about the site when you order, and we'll make sure the delivery suits it.
