Why use AXIOME Polycarbonate sheets for your home and trade projects?

Simple, structured Polycarbonate is extremely tough, durable, and nearly unbreakable. Plus, because it is extruded in a structured formation it provides excellent spanning strength.

It is also lightweight and allows 70% of light through in clear sheets. Available in 6 different thicknesses products offer levels of thermal insulation better than other alternatives keeping it warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Does polycarbonate expand and contract?
Yes, it expands in the summer and contracts in cold - allow a 12mm gap between the edge of the sheet and the glazing bar.

Can you overlap the sheets?
No, structured polycarbonate has to be joined using self-supporting or supported glazing bars which seal the join using a top cap and gasket.

What is the life expectancy of Polycarbonate?
Up to 20 years.

What thickness sheet should I go for?
They are available from 4mm up to 35mm, so it depends on the application.
Most lean-to and canopies are 10mm and 16mm. For conservatories and other areas that require a higher U value you would opt for 25mm, 32mm or 35mm multiwall

What is the difference between Clear, Opal and Bronze?
Other than the obvious which is the colour clear gives you excellent light transmission. Bronze is tinted to reduce glare and the shading effect. Being darker it also attracts more heat from the sun’s rays providing extra warmth.  Opal has a white tint which reduces heat and has a privacy effect. It will reflect heat from the sun’s rays reducing heat build-up by around 35%.
