Galvanised roofing sheets are one of the most popular sheets around today, and have have been for many years. They are still used as a replacement for the old corrugated iron sheets and these are a very cost effective and easy to handle sheet while keeping a traditional look. The 14x3 sheet has 14 corrugations of 3 inch round meaning it has a cover width of 1066mm once it has been lapped and has a thickness of 0.5mm meaning it is lightweight and is cheaper that getting a 0.7mm thick sheet. Unlike the box profile, a standard tek screw would not suffice, you need to use a seala washer with the tek screw to help seal it on the curve of the corrugation. These sheets are commonly used for agricultural and domestic buildings, but they are also used for industrial and commercial ones as well.

What do our corrugated galvanised sheets cover when fitted?
Our corrugated galvanised sheets cover 1066mm  when lapped.

What part of the sheet do I fix with the fixing screws?
You fix at the top of the corrugation on the sheets using a nail and spat washer, hookbolt or a self tapping screw with a seala washer and seala cap.

What is the minimum pitch required for these sheets?
We recommend you do not go any lower than 5°.

Can Southern Sheeting cut sheets?
Southern Sheeting will not cut our stock sheets so you will have to organise a way to cut them yourself. We can order sheets in cut to length if needed, please contact our sales team to make an enquiry.

What can I use to cut the sheets?
The best tool to use to cut these sheets would be a nibbler, you can also use a circular saw if you have the suitable steel blade. Angle grinders are very common to use but you can risk causing rust on the cut edge due to the heat generated from the grinder. Make sure the cut end is tucked under the ridge flashing or overlapping sheet.

How much should I lap these sheets by?
For the corrugated sheets, you want to lap them by 1 and a half corrugations. If you are using multiple sheets down the run, the minimum end lap on these sheets is 150mm.

What do these sheets weigh?
These sheets weight 4.4kg per linear metre.

What care and maintenance is required for these sheets?
You should inspect your roof every year to make sure there is no build up of debris such as branches, leaves, nests etc. If there are any markings, regular cleaner and water should suffice.

Can I use these sheets for side cladding?
Yes, these sheets are suitable to use for side cladding.

Customer Questions
could you use roofing membrane under the C.I. to prevent the condensation dripping down . To be used in external garage.
Essentially yes, you can use a membrane under the steel sheets but its important to fit the membrane to solid boarding otherwise it will sag between the batons.
Alternatively, you can purchase Anti-con sheeting which removes the need for a membrane...
