Trend Analysis: Composite Batten Cladding

One of the biggest trends on the market right now is Bison Composite Batten Cladding, an attractive timber-effect cladding perfect for
garden rooms and extensions.

Since arriving at Southern Sheeting this summer, batten cladding has flown off the shelves with countless customers telling us they love its style and aesthetic.

This product provides the on-trend appearance of real Cedar or Larch slatted cladding but also offers robust and low-maintenance benefits thanks to its composite make up.

People love the fact that it’s attractive but also that it is low maintenance, strong, durable, and easy to install.

Some of the key benefits of Bison Composite Batten Cladding that we’ve spotted include:

1. Cost effective

It may have the appearance of classic timber, but this cladding won’t deteriorate and is easy to clean – it requires no painting or staining.

2. Long life

The product comes with a 10-year manufacturer warranty, but its life expectancy will be far longer. It is UV resistant, which means it won’t fade quickly like painted timber.

3. Environmentally friendly

Bison composite planks are made from 95% recycled materials, a combination of recycled wood fibres and plastic. The fact that it lasts a long time is in its favour too.

4. Easy and quick to install

The system can be installed by a professional tradesperson or a competent DIYer, not least because there are very few components to work it. Apart from cladding the cladding planks all you are working with is edge boards, L corners and steel drip trims. With boards coming in 2.7m lengths, it is far quicker to install than traditional timber cladding.

5. Hard wearing and low maintenance

Composite is extremely durable and further boosted by Bison’s 3D embossed timber-effect shell cap. It should stand up to all weathers and be resistant to scratching and fading. In terms of maintenance, it won’t rot, twist or splinter. All that’s really needed is a clean down once a year.

Of course, original timber will always be an option for some people, but the pace at which compositive batten cladding is taking off suggests it is one to watch.
